Final Project Evaluation

What does your feed contain and why?

My 'feed' contains mainly internet access, virtual stores, ads, music, etc. I choose to have these on my 'feed' because people uses these things.

  • What does this say about and how does this define American culture and identity?

What this says about the culture is that their culture is not very traditional. Unlike some cultures Americans do not have traditional clothings for a specific reason. For example, Japanese. They have a traditional clothing called a Kimono. Kiminos are worn usually during the summer festivals. What this says about American identity is that they like to stand out from the crowd. Even if they are not super stars their clothing and make-up and everything will be the ones making them stand out. How this define American culture is that they believe in something that has a powerful influence on them. This not only goes to the American culture but to many as well. How this define American identity is that they buy anything that looks cool("The power of cool").

  • What are the social implications of technology use, consumerism or anti-consumerism? Are these good, bad? Is it okay to resist?

The social implications oftechnology use is mostly consumerism. Consumerism is both good and bad. It is good because you can get what you wantand help the economy a bit. It is bad because too much people are consumering, and when they consume the big corporations are getting bigger, and the bigger they get the more taxes are cut off. It is okay to resist beacuse not all peoplelike they idea of consumerism very much.

  • How does media, consumerism, reliance on technology, and/or popular culture personally affect you? Do they mold us, or us them?

How media affects me is that I really love to listen to music, using the web, and watching movies. Consumerism affects me by it's products produce. The way reliance on technology affects me is that it is easier to use technology to do something for us instead of doing it ourselves. For example, the pow. We do not have to use knives to cut the grasses anymore, instead the pow takes over for us. How popular culture affects me is by their clothing and accessories they have on their heads. It is also their wonder designs on the clothing and accessories that affects me. It is kind of like both. We mod them and in return they mod us.

  • How does it impacts you? Define you? What does it say about your personal habits, your individuality?

How it impacts me is how people would spend so much money on unneccessary things just to make them look good. For example earings. People can just wear one or two sets of earings, but no they buy so many pair. How this defines me is that I do not buy alot of accessories. I just want to buy but do not actually buy it. What it says about my personal habit is that I try not to use my money or parent's money on accessory. An example of this would be nail polish. During spring break I went to the store and bought my first nail polish. Ofcoruse there were many that I also bought with, but that was my first time; in my 16 years of life; that I ever bought make-up. What this says about my indivuduality is that I can not go shopping by myself yet.

  • If there is a moral to the story, what is it? How does Andeson convey this moral?

If there is a moral to the story it wouvd be that peolpe who uses the feed gets the lesions on their bodies. How he does it is that he makes the characters and everyone else in the book sound like the lesions are not so bad; when literally their skins are falling off.

  • Are people anything without the feed , in the world of the story?

No the people are nothing without the feed. They are nothing because they are so used to the feed when they were small that they do not know what to do without the feed. The feed is like a controler or a chip that once it is dead or not working, the whole system stops working.

  • Why does Titus order all those pants inthe second-to-last chapter?

Titus ordered the pants because something happened to his pants that is the same. Also he was frustrated by the things happening to Violet he did not know what to do.

  • What does the feed interlude at the end of the book mean (Everything must go...)?

The feedinterludes "everything must go..." I think this means that the feed does not want the people to know what they are doing to them. And so everything must move on. They are not waiting for people to know and catch up to them.
